Helping young women to get involved in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVACR) Industry is one of the main goals of Women in HVACR. They created this video to encourage young people to seriously consider the HVACR skilled trades as a career choice and to secure their future financial freedom. They are a great resource if you are considering this career path. You can learn more about them at WomenInHVACR.org.
Four Reasons to Pursue a Career in HVAC
Job Security. As we said before, HVAC professionals will always be in demand. As long as there are homes and buildings, we will need someone that can keep them running smoothly. HVAC repairs must be done on location and are generally complex. With so many different types of systems, installations, and repairs that need to be done, HVAC professionals are and will continue to be in high demand.
Financial Freedom. HVAC technicians make a very comfortable salary and most have the ability to earn overtime, especially during extreme temperatures. There are also lots of opportunities for advancement in this field for those who are interested in taking advanced HVAC classes and many field technicians work their way up into managerial positions. Trade schools are often less expensive than general four-year colleges and they tend to take less time. This means, trade school graduates enter the workforce sooner and with fewer student loans.
You Will Never Be Bored. If you are looking for a desk job, this is not it. A career in heating and air conditioning repair means that every day will be different. You get to work with a lot of different people in a lot of different places.
You’re a Hero. When a family’s heater stops working in the winter or their air conditioning unit goes out in the dead of a North Carolina summer, they are desperate for help. Not only is it uncomfortable, but it can be dangerous. A career in heating and air gives you the chance to help others when they are in need.
