In honor of Halloween, we are venturing to the scariest room in any house… THE BASEMENT! 👻 If you have not figured out the best way to heat and cool your basement, it can be really eerie, or at least really uncomfortable. Before you finish your basement, here are a few tips for choosing quality heating and cooling options for your new space.
Extending Your Current HVAC System
The first question we always get when someone is finishing their basement is can I extend my current system? There are a lot of factors that go into answering this, with the main one being, can your current HVAC system handle the additional space? Our qualified HVAC technicians would love to come take a look and evaluate your system. We will need to come inspect your system before we can say if this is a feasible option for you.
Add Ductwork
If your finished basement is very large and unsegmented, adding ductwork may make more sense than trying to expand your current HVAC system. With additional ductwork, you will be able to keep the entire space a comfortable temperature.
Space Heater
If you have a smaller basement, one that is very segmented, or an unfinished basement, a space heater could be perfect for you. With a space heater, you are able to move your heat source from room to room. This is a cost-effective way to heat up your basement if you are trying to save money. However, if you are going to be spending lots of time in the basement and people will be in multiple rooms at the same time, this may not be a fit for you.
Portable Air Conditioning Unit
Much like a space heater, a portable AC unit can be used to cool a small basement and it can be moved from room to room.
